Microbiome Systems Biology
Human Variation and Functional Genomics
The strategic objective of this program is to interrogate the human genome and the human global microbiome (defined as the microbes (bacteria, viruses, fungi, etc.) residing in the human gut and in saliva) to determine the important interactions between the host and the microbiome. This program will provide novel insights into metabolism in health and various stages of metabolic disorders including obesity and type 2 diabetes.
The long-term objective of the program is to accelerate the discovery and validation of novel stratified preventative and therapeutic interventions targeting metabolic disorders.
