At the University of Copenhagen’s Annual Commemoration, three awards are distributed for innovation, teaching and study environment. This year we were delighted to learn that CBMR’s Professor Thue W. Schwartz would be awarded the Innovation Award, which is given to a researcher or research group who has created new knowledge or innovative results for the benefit of society. After receiving the award at the commemoration, he was privileged to be granted an audience with HM the Queen.

If there’s someone who understands the innovation mindset, it’s Thue. A founding member of CBMR, he is a pioneering fundamental researcher and co-founder of countless spinouts, who is now inspiring our next generation to take the leap from academia to biotech as a member of our Innovation Team.

Watch the video below to see the moment Thue learned he would win the award, and hear from Executive Director Professor Juleen R. Zierath explain why it is so well deserved.
