"When I talk about my science, I always have to justify myself."

Video Interview

Professor Ruth Loos has dedicated her career to understanding the biology that underlies body weight regulation. Learn more about her research in this video.

Who is to blame for obesity? Well, it's certainly not simply a lack of willpower – genetics plays a big role. And we know this thanks to the pioneering research by Vice Executive Director Professor Ruth Loos over the past two decades.

Her important contribution to the field of obesity research was recently recognised by the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO) and the Novo Nordisk Foundation who awarded her the Obesity Prize for Excellence.

To coincide with the award, the Novo Nordisk Foundation interviewed Ruth about her scientific background and her current work building a precision health cohort.
