Comic: Tales from the Chronobiology Lab

Tales from the Chronobiology Lab is a comic book created in collaboration with scientists from CBMR, researcher Kristin Hussey and illustrator Sofie Louise Dam. The comic takes the reader behind the scenes in a scientific laboratory where we follow the unassuming night owl Amy in her research into circadian rhythms – the science of our body clock.

CBMR is delighted to share our new collaborative comic book, Tales from the Chronobiology Lab, written by Sofie Louise Dam and Kristin Hussey in collaboration with scientists from the Center. The comic takes the reader behind the scenes in a scientific laboratory where we follow the unassuming night owl Amy in her research into circadian rhythms - the science of our body clock.

Tales from the Chronobiology Lab takes you on a time-travelling adventure through the history of scientific research into rhythms before diving into the heart of the scientific process as Amy takes us through her most recent experiment. Without shying away from scientific detail, the comics get into the ‘nitty gritty’ of the questions that still puzzle circadian scientists today, with a dash of humor. It is a story about science and scientists – what it looks like to carry out research behind the scenes and what drives the people who make science happen. The comic is designed for young people and adults who are curious about circadian rhythms and how science is done in the lab.

Tales from the Chronobiology Lab was developed and produced by Kristin Hussey between 2019-2024 during her time as a Postdoc in CBMR's Research Program 4, Cardiometabolic Research in Society and Culture.
