Tune Pers promoted to Professor of Central Regulation of Metabolism
Tune Pers has been promoted to Professor of Central Regulation of Metabolism!
Tune joined CBMR as an Associate Professor in January 2016 and has since made a series of breakthrough discoveries into the biology downstream of obesity and type 2 diabetes risk variants, linking them to specific brain cell populations and molecular mechanisms. His group has also developed computational methods that are widely used across the field. In recognition of his pioneering research, he received the Leif C. Groop Award in 2024.
In 2023, he assumed the position of Coordinator of Research Program 1, Human Variation and Functional Genomics. In this position, he also joined the CBMR Center Leadership Team, where he has contributed to developing the Center's strategy. In addition, he heads the PhD School in Basic Metabolic Research at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences.

With strong momentum in my research group and across our center, I'm excited about our increasing ability to decode how the brain regulates cardiometabolic health," says Tune.
His inaugural lecture, 'The hidden brain circuits that shape our weight', takes place on October 7.
